Lent is a deeply reflective season marked by prayer, self‑examination, and sacrificial discipline as the Church journeys toward the mystery of the Cross and the joy of Easter. It emphasizes repentance and spiritual renewal, encouraging the faithful to slow down, take stock of their lives, and draw closer to God.
During Lent, reflections are centred around six activities essential to our calling as disciples: worshipping together, praying, exploring the Bible, sharing communion, offering service and sharing the good news with others.
Lent is not simply about giving something up, but about being formed more fully into the life of Christ. As our worship adopts a more thoughtful tone, there are some changes to the service: we replace the usual English Kyrie with a Greek version; we omit the Gloria; and there are special forms of the Gospel Acclamation, the Eucharistic Acclamation and the Invitation to Communion.
During Lent, we will be supporting Step by Step, a locally-based charity doing vital work with young people facing homelessness or other challenges.
