Can I get my child christened at Holy Trinity or All Saints’ church?
Yes, providing that either:
- The child lives in the parish, or
- The child’s parents are regular worshippers in one of our churches.
Please contact us and a Pastoral Assistant will get back to.
If you are not a regular churchgoer, you will be asked to come along to one of our churches a couple of times so that you can become familiar with the service and meet some of the congregation. We are always glad to receive enquiries about the baptism of children and, after a few simple preliminaries, will agree a date with you. A member of the clergy may also visit you.
If you do not live in the parish, we may ask a few more questions to understand why, but we would encourage you to approach the clergy of the parish where you live.
When can I get my child baptised?
Baptisms normally take place as part of our Sunday Worship on the third Sunday in each month, excluding Advent (December) and Lent (Feb-April). Other times can be arranged with the clergy when need arises.
Who can be a godparent?
These guidelines help ensure that godparents can effectively support the child’s spiritual development and represent the faith community:
- Typically, a child should have one or two godparents.
- At least one godparent must be a practicing churchgoer who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The other godparent should be a baptized Christian.
- Godparents must be at least 16 years old and mature enough to fulfil their responsibilities.
- Godparents should lead lives that reflect the values and teachings of the Church, serving as role models for the child.
