Advent 3 (14/12/25)

Communion music

During Communion this week, we shall be listening to “Rejoice in the Lord always” by Westminster Abbey Choir.

This Sunday is often called “Gaudete” (Rejoice!) Sunday, from the first word of the traditional Introit Antiphon at Mass, itself taken from Philippians 4:4–7. It isn’t certain who composed this English setting of the words, though it is commonly attributed to John Redford, a major composer of the period who was organist and choirmaster at St Paul’s Cathedral from 1525 until his death.
