“Give us the wings of faith” by James Whitbourn (1963–2024), performed by Westminster Williamson Voices.
The text is by Isaac Watts (1674–1748), a Congregational minister and prolific writer of hymns (among the many still in our hymn-books are “O God, our help in ages past” and “When I survey the wondrous Cross”), and expresses a desire to “see the Saints above, how great their joys”.
This setting by Whitbourn, whose career encompassed the BBC and Oxford University, dates from 2002.
