Easter 2 (12/04/2026)

Communion music

This week we shall be listening to “Easter Anthems” by John Scott (1956–2015), performed by the Sheffield Cathedral Choir.

The Easter Anthems are a conflation of verses from the writings of St Paul, prescribed in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer to commence Morning Prayer at Easter in place of the usual Psalm 95 (the “Venite”). This setting is by John Scott, an eminent English organist and choirmaster who first directed the choir of St Paul’s Cathedral from 1990 to 2004, before fulfilling the same rôle at St Thomas’ Church, New York, until his sudden death aged 59.
