O praise the Lord of heaven—Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872–1958) performed by Chapel Choir of the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
This setting by Vaughan Williams of Psalm 148 was first heard in 1913 at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is a richly antiphonal anthem, written for two full choirs plus a semi-chorus. The psalm is an exhortation to all of creation – heavenly bodies, forces of nature, the animal kingdom, humankind – to join in the praises of God the Creator.
