Sunday next before Lent (15/02/26)

Communion music

This week, we shall be listening to “O nata Lux de Lumine” by Morten Lauridsen (b. 1943), performed by the Chamber Choir of Europe.

On this final Sunday before Lent, the theme of our service is the Transfiguration of Christ upon the Mountain, and we hear the traditional Latin hymn (O Light born from Light) for the Feast of the Transfiguration.

This setting by the American composer Lauridsen was written in 1997 and established the mystical style for which he has become well known.
